Check a GTIN, EAN or UPC barcode

Paste a complete barcode number to validate its format and final GS1 check digit.

Checks happen locally. We do not confirm product ownership or product data.

Validate barcode numbers before you list, import, or print them

Barcode Validator checks supported GTIN, EAN and UPC lengths and recalculates the final GS1 modulo-10 check digit. It is useful for catching typing and spreadsheet errors before a barcode enters a product feed or inventory workflow.

Check one barcode

Validate a complete GTIN, EAN or UPC number in seconds.

Calculate a check digit

Complete an unfinished barcode number with the correct final digit.

Review a barcode list

Upload a small CSV or TXT list and see which rows need attention.

Supported barcode formats

The validator supports common retail GTIN lengths. EAN and UPC are names commonly used for particular GTIN formats.

How the barcode check works

01

Normalize input

Spaces and hyphens are ignored so you can paste the number as it appears on a label.

02

Identify the format

The number length determines whether it is a supported GTIN-8, GTIN-12, GTIN-13, or GTIN-14 value.

03

Recalculate the check digit

The final digit is compared with the GS1 modulo-10 result.

A structural check is not a product lookup

This validator does not connect to a GS1 or product database. A mathematically valid number can still be unassigned, incorrectly used, or associated with another product.
